Blue Orca Capital is an activist investment firm named for the legendary killer whales found off the coast of British Columbia, Canada. Orcas are famous for being some of the most communicative mammals on earth, using active sonar to navigate and hunt. Like its namesake, Blue Orca Capital is not afraid to communicate in the search for great investment ideas in the global financial markets.
Soren Aandahl is the Chief Investment Officer of Blue Orca Capital, a Texas-based premier short activist investor with a proven track record of successful investments in the U.S., Asia and Australia. Mr. Aandahl has a JD from Harvard Law School and a BA from the University of Chicago, from which he graduated Phi Beta Kappa.
Prior to Blue Orca Capital, Mr. Aandahl was the director of research of Glaucus Research Group and the Chief Investment Officer of Glaucus Investments. Under Mr. Aandahl, Glaucus was named by Activist Insight Magazine as the 2016 Short Seller of the Year. While Mr. Aandahl was director of research and CIO, Glaucus shared 28 short activist investment opinions with the market, in many cases alerting investors to publicly available evidence indicating that a company had materially misrepresented its financial performance or misappropriated money raised from investors. In multiple instances, management was charged with securities fraud and the subject companies were delisted.
